Staffordshire bull terriers.
For The Love Of Dogs presenter Paul O’Grady has spoken out in defence of Staffordshire bull terriers.
O’Grady has been a supporter of finding Staffies and other unwanted dogs new homes through his involvement with Battersea Dogs And Cats Home, with the ITV show For The Love Of Dogs drawing attention to the plight of abandoned canines.
Staffies make up a high proportion of dogs in need of homes, partly due to their reputation as dangerous animals.
While legal, they have been linked to violent attacks in the past few years, but O’Grady says this is due to poor training by owners, not their natural temperament.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror, he said: ‘They are lovely dogs. You get a bad owner with any dog and they turn into a bad dog.
‘It’s not about the breed. You could turn a Chihuahua into an evil dog with a bad owner, so I’m mad for Staffies.’
He’s now become a patron of a Staffordshire bull terrier club in an effort to rehabilitate the reputation of the dogs.
‘It was nice to be made a patron of the Staffie club. It’s nice to turn Staffies’ reputation around,’ he said.

Most Muslims hate dogs and cross the road when youre walking one.

That makes them ok with me as i dont have to hold my breath when i walk past them.

Privately funded as far as I know a lot of the places... give to a local Dog and Horse sanctuary and they are both self funding

Re: Staffordshire bull terriers.
Volls... all depends in how many places they got... some Dog Trust places won't put them down... but otherwise can be very short... couple of weeks... hence why people breeding them now deserve to be hung drawn and quartered... if you want a Staff there are tens of thousands that need a good home... real fucking shame

Volley, I understand that they now ship them to Korean restaurants and get heir funding this way.

Makes sense.

Re: Staffordshire bull terriers.
Serious question - how long do they keep the rescue dogs alive for - how do these places get funding?

Re: Staffordshire bull terriers.

People shouldn't be breeding Staffs, or at least have a special license to do so. Dogs homes are packed to the rafters with them.

Could not agree more....

Re: Staffordshire bull terriers.
Yep, put it down.

There's far too many staffs that get put down every day in rescue homes.

Re: Staffordshire bull terriers.
rios so if someone was selling them and they said we have one left and we will put the down as nobody wants it that is wrong as well - technically it's not a rescue dog right?
